Mildred Buford

My name is Mildred Buford, and I am a former school teacher and counselor. I retired from the Bullock County School System. For the past couple of years, I have been enjoying, exploring, and getting acquainted with retirement. I know for sure it has brought me closer to God. “The joy of the Lord is my strength. The Lord is the strength of my life.” My hobbies consist of reading, educational brain/word
games, and playing with my grand kids.

I am the daughter of the late Willie and Geraldine Buford of Union Springs, AL. They met in church, he was the Superintendent of the Sunday school, and she was the secretary. I am one of seven children. When we were growing up, we really had to share and love each other because we lived in close quarters. My parents made sure we had what we needed and took very good care of us, but I know they struggled and denied themselves many things.

I have one beautiful daughter, Alicia, who is married to Joshua a very ambitious and talented young man. They have two children Joshua, Jr., and Kenedee. They are my talented and innovative grandchildren. They call me “Nana”, and I am very proud to be their grandmother.

I am a member of Lilly Baptist Church. There I serve on the L. E. Treadwell Usher Board, member of the Sunday School Class, and member of the Matron III Missionary Society. On the personal side I am a member of WIT (Women in Touch) a community based organization in touch with the needs of the community at large. I am also a member of the 60’s Birthday Club and an Online Bible Study Group.

One of my favorite verses from the Bible is as follows: “I trust in the Lord with all of my heart, and I lean not unto my own understanding. In all of my ways I acknowledge Him and He directs my path”.
Prov.3:5-6.
